Ancient Egyptian jrtjw → irtyu, the reading Egyptologists have settled on. Hieroglyphs recorded no vowels, so how the word actually sounded is unknowable in principle; the vowels here are a convention, not a discovery.
Egyptian used three words across this stretch of color. Wadj was the old green-and-blue word, the color of papyrus and water. Khesbedj was lapis lazuli, the imported prestige stone. And jrtjw is the one attested for blue pigment, including the manufactured marvel the Egyptians called khesbedj-jrjt, "artificial lapis lazuli," and we call Egyptian blue.
It was made from quartz, copper, lime, and natron, fired at around 850°C: the world's oldest known synthetic pigment, produced for three thousand years until the recipe was lost in the fourth century.
So Irtyu names the blue of pigment, and the first color humanity ever manufactured. The blue of tomb ceilings painted as night skies, and of gods with lapis-blue hair. The Romans knew the same pigment as caeruleum, which makes Cerulean, ten anchors away, the second act of this story.
