Most likely a lost Mediterranean language, older than Latin → Latin pirum → Old English pere → English pear.
The interesting part is that first step. Pirum appears to be borrowed from a language that vanished before anyone wrote it down. The same silent ancestor stands behind Violet and Daphne. Some of Europe's oldest orchard words belong to peoples we can no longer name. The fruit outlived the language that named it.
